Philanthrophy

The TomKat Foundation creates and partners with innovative organizations that envision a world with climate stability, a healthy and just food system, and broad prosperity.

We embrace the inherent interconnectedness of these complex systems. We believe that understanding the relationships between our financial practices, the impact of our energy usage, and the methods by which our food is raised and consumed is critical to the success of sustaining a healthy planet that is able to support generations to come.

We are fiercely committed to achieving our mission and upholding our values in all facets of our work.

Priorities

Good Money

Good Money

We believe in the need to build the long-term prosperity of empowered, responsible consumers. We value organizations that have a demonstrated commitment to the environment, prioritize the support of local communities, and focus on traditionally underserved people and sectors.

We strive to achieve a financial system that creates fair and transparent access to financial services in order to build financial literacy and economic prosperity for all. We envision a financial industry that is fair to the person with the least bargaining power and provides access to financial services for all of our communities.

Our Good Money grantmaking sustains this idea of beneficial banking. We focus on the empowerment of consumers and communities in their financial actions, and defend against predatory financial services by supporting alternatives. We prioritize organizations that lend to businesses and non-profits that meet human needs in a just and sustainable manner.

Good Food

Good Food

We support the belief that lasting solutions to global climate change, the degradation of the world’s ecosystems, and feeding a growing human population can be achieved.  Through innovation and thoughtful collaboration, we seek to bring together the interests of agriculture, the environment, and human health to create a sustainable food system for the next one hundred years.

Our Good Food grantmaking supports the conditions necessary for sustainable animal agriculture’s economic success. We prioritize shifting large demand like schools to healthy food, removing obstacles in processing and distribution, making more and more fertile lands available for sustainable ranching, increasing access to healthy and affordable food for underserved communities, and demonstrating the environmental benefits of sustainable animal agriculture.

Good Energy

Good Energy

Working at every level, we are committed to supporting organizations and initiatives across the country that will take bold action on climate change.

Our Good Energy grantmaking embraces organizations that are working to prevent climate disaster and preserve American prosperity. We support the unleashing of a new energy economy and emphasize partnerships for our direct energy efforts.
